Matcha is finely ground green tea powder. Matcha is made from only the highest quality green tea leaves grown in Japan. Green tea leaves are shade grown, hand picked, steamed, and then dried. After drying they are ground into a fine powder using a stone mill. What results is a vibrant green powder that is full of nutritional benefits.

Blends of matcha are given poetic names called chamei ("tea names") either by the producing plantation, shop or creator of the blend, or by the grand master of a particular tea tradition. When a blend is named by the grand master of a tea ceremony lineage, it becomes known as the master'skonomi, or favoured blend
